SILVER SPRING, Md. (7News) — As millions across the country rang in the New Year, one Oxon Hill family kicked it off by greeting their newest member.
Officials at the Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center announced their first hospital birth of 2024 - a girl born at 12:37 a.m., weighing 4 pounds and 11 ounces. She is also among the first babies born in the D.C. area in 2024, according to officials.

With each New Year comes new hopes, new dreams, new expectations, and new life,” said Nia Williams, director of Labor & Delivery at WOMC, in a statement. “We feel so blessed they chose us to bring their new life into this world.”
As part of the landmark moment, hospital officials said the family received a large basket filled with toys and baby essentials.
