Joy Wang

Joy Wang is excited to wake up with the DMV as a morning reporter on 7News.

Joy came to 7News in July of 2022 from Albuquerque, NM where she spent six years taking on multiple roles including reporter, anchor and weather anchor. There she had her own segment called, “Morning Joy” where she covered trending topics of the day. Joy has a passion for storytelling and won three New Mexico Broadcasters Association awards for Best Feature.

Her career started in Lansing, Michigan after graduating from the University of Southern California in 2014 with a double major in Broadcast and Digital Journalism and Communication.

FIGHT ON! In Michigan, she covered the Flint Water Crisis and followed the MSU Spartans along in their journey to the Final Four and College Football Playoff.

Joy is from Los Angeles, California but spent many years living and going to school in Taiwan. She is bilingual in Mandarin and looks forward to connecting with the DMV community and amplifying Asian Americans and Pacific Islander (AAPI) voices.

When she’s not hanging out with her rescue dog Cooper, you can catch "ChefJOYardee" enjoying local restaurants and convincing herself to work out.
