A juvenile and a 19-year-old are facing charges after Vienna police said they robbed a postal carrier who was on his route in June 2023.

Officers said they responded to the robbery on Church Street Northeast, where a postal carrier said he was assaulted with pepper spray and postal property was stolen.

Following the initial incident, officers said there was a series of thefts targeting blue collection boxes in the Vienna, Fairfax and Oakton areas.

Vienna Police collaborated with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service to investigate the incidents, officials said.

On Friday, Jan 5, officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 3000 block of Borge Street in Oakton. Both Abdalla and the juvenile were taken into custody without incident, officers said.

Both suspects were charged with assault, identity theft and robbery, according to officers.
