Melanie Hastings

Melanie Hastings anchored WJLA 24/7's very first newscast when the 24-hour local news service was launched as NewsChannel 8 in 1991. She now anchors Good Morning Washington at 4:24 a.m. on ABC7, Good Morning Washington Express at 6 a.m. on WJLA 24/7, and co-anchors the Midday Report on WJLA 24/7.

Melanie has won several broadcasting awards including "Best Public Affairs" by the Associated Press, a commendation from American Women in Radio and Television and was nominated for a regional Emmy Award.

Melanie's previous experience includes work anchoring and reporting for WTTV-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana, WSAZ-TV in Huntington, West Virginia, and KTVI-TV in St. Louis, Missouri.

She graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Speech Communications.
