Suspect in armed dognapping of 'Mocha' arrested

The person accused of taking a French Bulldog during a sale in Southeast, D.C. back in Dec. 2023, has been arrested, according to D.C. Police on Saturday.

Police said the suspect, Kyrie Holmes, 24, was arrested Friday after police claimed he took part in stealing the dog, named "Mocha", at gunpoint on the 3300 block of 14th Place, Southwest back on Dec. 22, 2023.

Holmes was part of a group that met with the woman dog owner after contacting her over an online sale listing of Mocha. Upon arrival, the suspects approached the woman and took her dog, brandishing a gun and threatening to shoot her when she tried to retrieve Mocha.

Several days later, on Dec. 29, 2023, Mocha was found and reunited with her owner.

Holmes was arrested by D.C. officers on January 5, 2023.
